Delyan Peevski is the lawmaker who will question banker Tsvetan Vasilev in Belgrade

The CCB Committee nominated the “prodigy child” to lead the complex and responsibility-charged mission

The temporary Parliamentary Committee in the case of the collapsed and now without license Corporate Commercial Bank (CCB) has convened an emergency meeting and decided to send to Belgrade Delyan Peevski, lawmaker from the party largely representing the Muslim minority in Bulgaria – Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) -to hold a hearing of CCB’s majority shareholder, banker Tsvetan Vasilev.

Earlier, the Chair of the Committee Desislava Atanasova, invited Vasilev to be heard in the Parliament and Prime Minister Borisov committed to ensure his security, in case he fears for his life.

Vasilev, however, said he was ready to talk before Members of the Parliament, but could not leave Serbia, where he is awaiting a decision of the authorities on whether he should be extradited to Bulgaria. Therefore, the banker proposes to meet with a representative of the Committee in Belgrade, his lawyer Menko Menkov announced.

The proposal has been accepted and the banker’s former associate Delyan Peevski will be send for this purpose to Belgrade. The Members of the Commission grounded the decision with the closeness that Peevski and Vasilev have established over the years, Peevski’s experience as investigator that brought to fruition dozens of socially significant matters, and the business skills of the DPS MP, who owns nothing and everything in the State.

According to sources of Bivol, Delyan Peevski has already left with escort from the National Security Services and the gendarmerie provided by Borisov. The Belgrade meeting should take place in the early hours of April 1.
