The wall also blocks the access to the beach. This is visible in pictures sent to Bivol\u2019s editorial office by an American citizen living in Bulgaria.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<em>I would like to let you know that the local government in Nessebar is destroying the Unesco protected dunes on the South Beach. It looks like in order to protect the businesses on the beach, one of which was built this past summer, they constructed a huge wall of sand\u00a0near the water. The sand was taken from the Dune, and one slop of it is almost gone\u2026It is just heart breaking\u2026 In constructing this wall, they also blocked the\u00a0public access to the water, which is\u00a0illegal in the civilized world. My husband and I fell in love with Bulgaria and its beautiful coast when we came here last year for vacation from the USA. We were planning to spend here at least half year, but now we are so\u00a0disappointed\u2026\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>What they are doing here in Nessebar is so illegal and contrary to the interests of the country and its people. Instead, a US citizen is sounding the alarm.<\/p>\n<p>This morning, Bivol reported the environmental crime to Burgas Regional Governor Valcho Cholakov. The regional government is the institution directly responsible for the observance of concession contracts and their obligations to manage beaches. We expect a reaction and an opinion from there.<\/p>\n<p>The Nessebar-South beach was concessioned at the beginning of the year to the company Auto Factor, which is owned by Kiril Spassov, linked to the alleged major Bulgarian organized crime group from the 1990s, VIS-2.<\/p>\n<p>Another company of Spasov &#8211; Irida-71-\u00a0 is the concessionaire of the popular Cacao Beach in Bulgaria\u2019s largest summer resort Sunny Beach.<\/p>\n<p>Until the summer of 2012, the majority shareholder in Irida-71 was Radostin \u201cRado The Sun\u201d Barzanov, a former bodyguard of VIS boss, Vasil Iliev and then of his brother and successor, Georgi Iliev, according to <em>Capital<\/em> daily.<\/p>\n<p>Veselin Stoimenov, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/bivol.bg\/en\/invader-of-ropotamo-natural-reserve-got-eliminated.html\">shot<\/a> in early January 2016, is another associate of Spassov and Barzanov.
