He explained that his trip to the coast was not on his own\ninitiative, but because Prime Minister Borisov had sent him. Without being asked\nexplicitly, at the very beginning of the event, architect Nestorov commented\nbroadly on Bivol\u2019s publication, which reveals that his in-laws have acquired\nproperties in lucrative locations, sold to them by construction companies at\nunrealistically low prices. Here is his explanation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Journalist: <em>I want to ask\nwhat is new today compared to yesterday?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nestorov: \u201c<em>The new\nthing today is that a media article was published yesterday by your colleagues\nfrom Bivol, saying that architect Nestorov is a very, very corrupt employee, in\nview of the fact that his father-in-law had a home that he had sold, bought\nanother home, and further had a third residence in the coastal town of Sozopol.\nI can only tell you that, unlike your fellow journalists, my father-in-law, who\nis no longer on this earth, is Vesselin Tsolevski and he will leave an imprint\nin the Bulgarian cultural heritage. Because he spent 45 years of his life in the\nBoyana Film Studios and has created maybe over 20 movies and documentaries. And\nfor that reason, my father-in-law, Vesselin Tsolevski, will remain an example\nfor me to be proud of, I will not be ashamed of him. And I can give you an\nexample, one of the movies he has created features our favorite actor Ivan\nLaskin and it is called \u201cVasco Da Gama from the Village of Rupcha (an\nemblematic Bulgarian movie \u2013 editor\u2019s note). He is the sound director of this movie&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>And for this reason,\nwhen my daughter was born, we lived for five years in his apartment. And when\ntalking about a corrupt employee, I signal to your colleagues from Bivol to\nlook at, I was also the Chief Architect of Sofia Municipality, open all the\nsites, check Ivan Nestorov and the companies that I was tasked to help in the\nrealization of their investment intentions, whether they have signaled and\nwhether they have found that Ivan Nestorov is the corrupt employee. But they should\nalso take a look at all those chief architects who came after Ivan Nestorov.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Journalist: <em>So, you\nhave no property on the sea shore in Sozopol, so I understand?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nestorov: \u201c<em>It belongs\nto my father-in-law, not to Nestorov. For this reason, the one I told you about,\nhe is deserving enough and has left a mark in our cultural heritage<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We recall the facts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nowhere in our <a href=\"https:\/\/bivol.bg\/en\/head-of-bulgarian-construction-control-with-large-waterfront-apartment-registered-to-his-mother-in-law.html\">publication<\/a>\nare the words &#8220;corrupt&#8221; and &#8220;corruption&#8221; used with respect\nto architect Nestorov.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2002, the deserving sound director Vesselin Tsolevski,\nmay he rest in peace, bought an apartment of 68 square meters on the waterfront\nin the town of Sozopol for only for BGN 17,300 from the company BDK Ltd. He was\n74 years old then.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2010, Vesselin Tsolevski exchanged this apartment for\nanother apartment owned by the company BDK Invest, which had the same owners.\nThe new apartment is at an even more exclusive location, it is bigger and has a\nlarge terrace overlooking the bay, while the previous apartment did not.\nArchitect Ivan Nestorov and his family vacation there every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"685\" src=\"https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-1024x685.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44996\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-1024x685.png 1024w, https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-300x201.png 300w, https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-768x514.png 768w, https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-1170x782.png 1170w, https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-1920x1284.png 1920w, https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-585x391.png 585w, https:\/\/bivol.bg\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/kalfata9-263x175.png 263w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption>The entire floor belongs to Nestorov&#8217;s father-in-law<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2005, the mother-in-law of architect Nestorov, Zdravka\nTsolevska, secured another gainful property acquisition. She bought an\napartment of 92 square meters in the capital Sofia for only BGN 47,500. A\nreference in the Property Register shows that a similar apartment in the same\nbuilding, but with a smaller area, was sold by the same company only a month\nearlier for three times more &#8211; BGN 162,139.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We add another interesting fact. The daughter of architect\nNestorov, Maya Nestorova, which he mentions in his narrative, has acquired a\ngarage for BGN 16,485 at the age of 19 and at the age of 22, paid BGN 175,046\nfor an apartment of 85 square meters in Sofia. There is no evidence that the\nyoung lady has taken a mortgage loan or had her own business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All this is subject to a check by the Commission for\nCombating Corruption and the withdrawal of illegally acquired property (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciaf.government.bg\/\">KPKONPI<\/a>) (sic). Bivol contacted the\nDNSK press office and asked a question to Mr. Nestorov whether he considered\nthat the lucrative property acquisitions of his in-laws could put him in a\nsituation of conflict of interest because at the time of the purchases he had exercised\noversight on construction companies. He is yet to answer it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are still asking this question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, KPKONPI may accept the explanation that the\nowners of BDK have made a generous gift to his father-in-law, while another\ncompany has sold an apartment at below-market price to his mother-in-law simply\nbecause construction bosses are deeply grateful to the award-winning sound\ndirector Vesselin Tsolevski, and the mark he has left in Bulgarian culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If this ends up being the conclusion of the case, we are\nhoping that Bulgarian companies will take care of other people with a\nsignificant contribution to the Bulgarian culture and reward them with such exclusive\nproperties as the one on the picture.
